It reminds me of some little pot bellied stoves I used to make and sell about 20 years ago. It's an oil burner, the top half is a tank that holds around 60 ml of water into which you put a few drops of an aromatic oil. They were pretty cool, slip cast reduced stoneware fired with iron oxide which reduced in the firing to look exactly like cast iron.
