The planning for the Pizza Oven is all part of the experience. I saved material for years. I think I had as much fun collecting the material as I do using the oven. The roof to this oven is clay tile. It came off of a hospital in Colorado. There is a guy on Whidbey Island, the Tile Guru, who knows and loves clay tile and was awesome to work with. The brick for the base was a neighbors chimney knocked down in 1987. I had made brick pathways in the garden but dug the brick up for the oven. This was real brick, heavy as all get up. The industrial vent (the baffles still work) came off of an east coast building. the stone facing was left over from a retaining wall. The two mermaid terracotta heads used to hold plants in the summertime were found in an antique market in the U.K. I knew right off they were going on a pizza oven and held onto them for years.
