Re: Another Aussie Oven
It has been over 6 weeks since I last played with my WFO and it feels good to be back at it and playing with power tools again.
I was waiting for a new blade for my brick saw but that turned up yesterday and when I got home from work I got stuck into cutting the bricks for the outer arch and the flue transition. I have also completed the timber form work for the arch so hopefully I can begin curing fires in a week.

Re: Another Aussie Oven
Hi Grant
They are High temperature Insulation Bricks.
They do have similar characteristics as a hebel blocks but are made specifically for insulative purposes
They do the same job as vermiculite only better!!!

Re: Another Aussie Oven
Hi
I was wondering what are the bricks that are between the concrete and the floor of the oven , they look like Hebel blocks ?

Congrats Paul. Your oven looks superb! Thanks for posting your progress pics. Hope to see some more of your progress and some of your first food!

P.S. Careful with that extinguisher, you may accidentially put out a fire...

Wow, the inside of your dome looks beautiful with the fire light. Nice workmanship, Paul.

Re: Another Aussie Oven
I confess that I am a pyromaniac!
The oven is no where near complete as I still need to do the vent arch, chimney, insulation and outer render but I could no longer resist the temptation of lighting a fire.
Over the last couple of weeks I have relented to pressure and completed a few other jobs around the house to reduce the jealousy my wife feels towards my oven and power tools because of the attention I have been giving them. We are off to the UK for 3 week over Christmas to visit family so nothing more will be done on my build but at least that means the dome will have over 6 weeks of curing in a hot Aussie summer.
