  • Chimney flue - Adelaide Sth Aust

Can anyone help in what are the best option & price to run a 6" flue from top of brick chimney than through a colourbond roof.

I have had 2 quotes one from heatworks for $568 , and $460 from Air Diffusion. I was rather shocked at the cost.

Basically they say it is best to have a drop box through the top of the galv sheet (Aust standard) which then an 8'' flue runs through that which in turn a 6'' flue (this drop box is for insulation purposes) then runs through that. The drop box is approx 600mm.

Both quotes are for complete kit, chimney plate 3 lengths of 6' stainless steel flue, rain cap , ceiling box flanges etc .

I need to run the flue through the verandah to take the smoke away.

    Does anyone have any suggestions.

    Thank you in anticipation

The so called drop box is designed to run through a house roof so you dont burn the house down not a verandah roof.

Get yourself some 6" SS flue sections, a Dektite, and a tube of silicon.
Id be surprised if it cost you $100 all up.

Thanks for the great info. I thought it sounded like an overkill. The flue will be going through colourbond so their is not any combustible material against it, and it shouldn't be over hot anyway.

It would take a lot of heat to melt the steel in a tin roof.....lol

Thanks for that. I ended up getting my flue from A & B industries. Went with a twin skin 6" inner 8" outer.

                Chuckie,
For your application I would be using a single flue only without the dropbox, but you will need a seal on the roof side. You can pick one up from Bunnings or a plumbers supplier, but get the higher temp rated red one. This should be sufficient provided you don"t fire the oven with flames shooting out the top of the flue pipe.
Oops sorry, I just read that you've already bought a double flue.In that case you only need the EPDM seal.
