I have laid my concrete plinth and now want to start my insulating layers between the oven floor.
I was going to add an initial layer of sand (maybe including wine bottles), then storage heater bricks to form the level base and finally the fireclay bricks.
Firstly, would this suffice to create enough insulation and secondly, should I lay the oven bricks on a sand base or fireclay mortar?
