      Re: BOTM April 08 Nominations

Let's see if we can come with 4-5 new innovative new postings, photos or videos each month. I think a new photo or video -- or recipe -- using an existing oven should count as new.

      Sound good?

        Re: BOTM April 08 Nominations

One of the little issues that could probably be tweaked with the BOTM poll is that the nominations open on the first day of the month, for the current month, but several of the first nominations are actually taken from the previous month's postings. Its a small point, but causes confusion and can lead to double nominations over two consecutive months, as Inishta points out above.

I'd suggest opening the nominations for BOTM during the last week of the subject month and going through the first week of the next month, with voting open till the last week of the next month.

For example, April's BOTM nominations begin on April 21st or so. Nominations end after the first week of May, so that all of April's postings are accounted for, then voting occurs for the next two - three weeks - mid to late-May. This would completely remove May postings from consideration for April's poll, and March's postings not qualified for nomination.

.......or something like that! I sure wouldn't change it right now though. Good nominations already made that are well worthy of distinction.

RT - Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate your thoughts.

George, that is an excellant idea. Agreed. We present our ideas. If it is food, is gets tested and approved. If oven, we can discuss it, etc. I like this.

I would like to nominate cvdukes for his innovative use of ferro-cement on ovens and fireplaces. A very useful addition to the FB knowledge base.

I can see that based on conversations here, we have several people that have been on for several months in a row. I see that a few of us have great support to keep on for the next month (me excluded). I say to James, remove me from the poll for this month. For the interest of this evolving contest, we should have fresh people each month, win or loose. This will get further interest, and it will bring creative interest from more members. We are not a cult, we must evolve this great opportunity of recognizing. I can see I will not win, but my interest is to the greater good of the forum, and to the members needed the support.

Sticking to my word. I want to nominate Bluetong for an oven that looks great. I like it's exterior color, brick and mortar being different than the latest means, looking original and old school. Great work.

For pizzas, I nominate Arevalo53anos for the great contributions of pizzas cooking in the oven. Many great ones turned out. I especially enjoy this one.

I'd like to nominate John Fahle's oven - or rather, the one he helped build and told us about:

Because its facsinating that he and his friends made a really cool oven out of virtually nothing.

I know Robert (Acoma), said he didn't want to be in this month.

But I am nominating him for posting an excellent sauce recipe.

Here's a thread about his sauce recipe.

My wifes sauce was short of some details. I corrected it in my thread. DAve and Xabia, or anyone else using the applied recipe for their threads may wish to edit. Sorry for any inconvenience. Well worth the edit and making. If there is enough positive try's and responses, she will likely share her spaghetti sauce which will blow you away.

                                All,

I've already done my nominating and lobbying and voting for April. Just like to say that the five pack of Caputo appeared today for winning the March vote. Thank you James, especially for the DOP surpise included in the box. Thanks, too, of course, to all my loyal party members.
