This is finally the idea. I tried to post as a pic but it would not load so signature instead. Its different. The barrel is much more curved than the picture portrays

How are you going to handle the belly of the barrel? Will need an extra brick or wider joints or ?

I will cut and mortar in shims or cut the brick...no fat boy joints
