  • Hi all

I have built a VERY rustic brick oven and charcoal grill set up in a corner of my back yard which I have named 'Caveman Corner" (all that naked flame and burning wood is very primal). I am in awe of you guys that manage to make your ovens so nice looking, mine is just a dome on a pile of bricks.

    Re: Hi all

Does this mean that you are now going to start building your own Sistine Chapel of an oven in your back yard?

      Hi Caveman and welcome aboard.
Are you the caveman from Kersbrook or a new location in this great state of ours?
How about sharing your build with a few pictures. After all, it doesn't really matter what it looks like, so long as it works!

      Cheers.

        Re: Hi all

What two Cavemen? I'm in West Croydon, my 1st oven was in Walkley Heights.
Not much chance of me doing much more to the oven, some neighbours aren't too happy about the smoke - I've pacified them with free bread and pizza, so I might add a chimney, other than that perhaps a new render coat, but I sort of consider my oven finished the moment I can cook in it.

I'll post pics as soon as I sort out how to do it, took some nice pics of veggies roasting in the oven while a lamb turned on the spit next to it.

We will be able to keep you separate though.

          Cheers.

Your smoke problem should improve. Most new ovens are smoky until they are properly dry. Always use dry wood too.
