Hi All,

I'm delighted to have found your forum!

I am planning on building a smoker/grill/oven/fireplace in my back yard.

I'm still in the pipe dream stages but I have some pretty detailed plans. I hope to learn a lot more here about using the different components together like concrete block, facing brick, firebrick, insulating concrete, mortars and clays and how they all work together. I've never laid a brick in my life and this project may take a couple years but if it doesn't beat me into submission it should be pretty cool when it's done.

I hope you all have the patience of saints because I'm a little dense and often bite off more than I can chew. That means lotsa questions.

No problem with the questions, give us your best shot. However I would be wary of some of the answers esp if they come from me.
Seriously there are a lot of people here that can help you out with a majority of your questions, but I am willing to bet that once you start your build, you will find that trial and error will be your best teacher.
