I have been here reading quite a bit for about three months. I am married with three teenage (pizza oven construction assistant) kids and a German Shepherd that has watched intently as I surveyed our back yard for a good oven site.
I began construction of a 42" Pompeii by excavating and leveling a spot in my back yard 4 days ago (not much level ground here).
I have set the form for the slab - and have tamped, tamped and then tamped some more the aggregate below the slab (moistening the soil beneath each time). My plastic is in place along with the wire mesh and re-bar. Hopefully, I'll be mixing and pouring cement tomorrow!
