  • Introduction - from North Central Indiana

    Hello all,
Brandon here from West Lafayette, Indiana. Home of the Purdue Boilermakers.

I'm 30 years old, married for 11.5 years and have a beautiful 4 year old daughter. We are definitely an outdoorsy group. Warm weather means being outside until dark, usually later. Building an oven only makes sense.

I'm an Automation and Controls Engineer, enjoy running, biking, hiking, and golfing. I'm a huge bourbon fan and used to be an avid home-brewer and was beginning to automate my brewery when I formed a mild allergy to certain yeasts. Between the allergy and my cutting back on beer drinking, I decided to sell the brewery and move my focus elsewhere....this oven build. I'm still a huge fan of good beer. Call me a hop head if you like. I have 2 hop vines on the property currently. I used them for a year or so before the allergies. After my oven build is complete, I am contemplating building a pergola over the patio then relocating my hops to grow up the pergola.

I'm also a massive music fan. Almost anything under the sun.

I've tossed up the idea of building an oven for a couple years now, my brother in law built an amazing outdoor kitchen with a WFO, fireplace, and grill and has been trying to talk me into building my own.

I started a thread that is awaiting approval, with a Sketchup drawing of the house, existing patio and plans including footers/foundation.

When the thread is approved and active, I'll update this post with a link.

    Hey Brandon, welcome aboard.

I'm just up the road about a half hour. Looking forward to seeing pics of your build. Be nice to the guys at L. Masonry, they are the only game in town.
The cost of living continues to skyrocket, and yet it remains a popular choice.
