  • Hello from Vancouver Island

Planning on starting a WFO build in my yard.

    About me:
I have a Tiki themed yard and some of my projects have been showcased on Popular Mechanics.com and several on Instructables.com

    Free Tiki Bar Plans

I think a nice pizza oven would be a welcomed addition to my yard! I plan on making the look of it in the theme of Adventureland (i.e Tropical) but I am very limited on space. I have maybe a 4x4' area available/ Any thoughts on how to maximize cooking area from the experts would be great.

Welcome madhatter - First thing to decide is what size oven you want, what you want to do with it, what volumes you want to produce and the rest. Then you need to determine exactly how much room you have to play with and then work backwards to what you can fit in there.

The FB plans detail the dimensions and the levels of brick, insulation and the rest.

I would suggest that you start with a look at the basic plan and make some decisions from there. There is good advice to be found on the forum once you have determined what you are going to build. It is a worthwhile project.
    Cheers ......... Steve

Hi Madhatter - I am new to this oven stuff, but I would say a 4x4 space is enough to build a nice oven. Might not be enough to cook the worlds larges pie in, but plenty of space for a backyard oven. Good luck on your quest to fill the area.

Madhatter: I love the tikibar!!! I Would love to see more photos of your tiki-themed backyard. Our backyard is kinda-sorta tiki-themed and are always looking to expand.

I'm working in limited space as well...I'm restricted by existing patio (which I'm not moving) and zoning laws. I'm building a 30" Pompeii based on the Forno Bravo plans. Based upon what I've read, a party of a couple dozen people can easily be served by a 30" oven. I've got pdfs of the drawings I'm working from. You can track my build here.
