  • Hello from Moonta Bay, Australia

This looks like a great site I stumbled on by mistake. Live on a few acres surrounded by farming land in our century old stone home.
Last year I got for free some timbers from a 100 year old horse stable and used them to create an 8m x 8m barn close to our house.
This area is going to be our "Rustic" entertaining area. We covered it in old rusty corrugated iron, built a big solid table out of left over timbers, and have a fire pit utilising an old steel Sunshine harvester rim. Next phase is to build a rustic wood fired pizza oven. Have already got some bricks for bugger all cost to build the base, now I have to browse through here for plans and ideas for the important bit, the oven itself!

So glad I found this site as it was just the place I needed for ideas and inspiration.

    Eyspy,

Welcome to the forum. Rusty corrugated iron, left over timbers, tractor rim fire pit. Sounds like my kind of place . Can you post some pics of your intertaining area?

There is a lot to learn but I don't think any of it has to be that expensive. If you follow the principles of good brick and insulation, your oven will be fantastic! Most ovens that I know of that don't perform well are lacking in design. Done right, they will perform for years and years.

          Darin,
Our southern hemisphere bros have to deal with brick cost that are triple or quad our cost in the US so I understand the pain.

Yeah WInter is good idea !! have been out each weekend especially last weekend putting finishing touches to outdoor kitchen prior to rendering. Burnt to a crisp hot and bothered lots of beer.
But finished and ready for render. Could have rendered it myself but want it done quickly. As I know someone, am happy to pay him so it is complete.

                    good luck
                    Cheers Colin
