  • Hi from the E.P

Hi all, I've just discovered the forum and signed up. I am a 48 yr old bloke living on the Eyre peninsula in S.A, and about to start the job of constructing an outdoor oven. It will no doubt be a challenge...especially with limited access to materials over this way.
Hoping to gain lots of tips and advice from others here and hope I don''t ask too many dumb questions.
I have put together an Alforno kit oven before but this one will be 100% my own build.
A long way to go yet as I've only just dug footings and prepared the slab for concreting.
I'm still researching mortar mix recipe's, insulation advice, and general tips and tricks. I am not too bad at general handyman stuff and have done minor concrete and brick work around the house in the past so have a few basic skills.
Anyway its good to be on board and I can't wait to get started.
    Cheers, Greggo

    Greggo,

Opps - thought SA was South Africa so I have edited the linkl - There is a regional thread for Australia builds

There have been a few SA builds over the past few years. The "Pompeli Construction" thread gets the most traffic but there is some reference to SA builds under "Australia" https://community.fornobravo.com/for...rums/australia This may help you with material resources.

To see some of the more documented builds go to this link. There are others but this is a good baseline to start your research and design.

I have seen the pain that our Southern Hemi builders are faced with with material resources as well as high material cost. That said, some of the builders are able to skirt the cost issue by search you local classifieds. Check with Oasiscdm, David S, CobblerDave for local advice.
