  • Hello from Illinois

Hello. I am new the forum and somewhat new to the wood fire pizza community. I built my own oven from refractory and hand cast it around a plug. I have been using it for 2 years now and continually learning new things with it.

I would love to turn this hobby into a possible mobile truck. Has anyone started their own business? I would love to hear how the build process went, ups and downs you ran into, I will take any advice ya got.

Just want to to say hello and throw some pics of my build.

Karangi Dude from Australia did a top notch mobile unit using a Forno Bravo cast unit, prior to that he built a huge 48" pompeii brick oven. You can look at his mobile thread with the attached link. He does not actively participate in the Forum anymore but is one of our core and experienced members. He may respond to PMs if you have questions.

Curious, how did you insulate the floor? It appears that the fire brick sit right on the base.

I used the same refractory I used to build the dome. It is 4-5" thick, I can't remember.

There are plenty of mobile builds on the forum. Try doing a search for mobile ovens or trailer ovens. I’m on my second one and have a thread of my new build here.
