  • high duty fire bricks

I have access to a load of High duty fire bricks, but i am concerned i am wasting my time as they will get to hot and burn food. is it possible to just make a smaller fire?

      Hey Shark,

I don't remember the detail for certain, but was it talked about in the Forno Bravo Pompeii construction manual? I think the High Duty fire brick are not as good at storing and using the heat as the low and medium duty brick. This is a faint memory,,,, so not a lot of confidence in the detail here.. but I think the low and medium duty are a better choice?

They'll work fine. They are harder to cut, and much more expensive, but if they are free, it's worth buying another blade or so.

I just sold some 70% alumina fire bricks to suit a furnace rebuild. $6;50 each. So getting high duty bricks for zilch is pretty good.
