Rebar tie wire versus string?

Hi, I've cut my rebar and am about to lay the structural foundation hearth (if it ever stops raining in this god foresaken country!). This is probably a silly question but in the plans it says to tie the rebar together with rebar wire. Is it ok to use string? My thinking is that it wont matter once the concrete sets.

I think you're right. Those plastic wire ties work well too.
