  • Oven on the Terrace

    Greetings my fellow oven enthusiasts.
This is my 1st post in this forum so i will state my cause briefly.

I would like to build an oven out of firebricks on my terrace( for the lack of backyard). In the following images I show the available space.

    My story:

My dad built that "base" 15 years ago and the funny thing is a was right there "helping" him (I was 10y.o.) Ah Good memories.
A couple of years ago i entered the world of pizza making (as a college student) I made the best pizza I could in my electric kitchen oven. But now I want to take it up a notch (or a lot!)

In the following images I show the available space.

    The big question is:

Do I have enough room for a decent small oven?
    What expansions should I make?

    That is all for now.
More questions may occure! Until then happy pizza making to all!

I don't see any pictures yet, so, any response is premature

To start, download and read the Pompeii oven plans, (Add to cart and checkout for free. The section describing the oven stand will give you an idea of the space you need.

If you are thinking about building a brick oven, my advice is Here.

I try to learn from my mistakes, and from yours when you give me a heads up.

Before I check them I shall upload some renders I've made in SU8 These are accurate dimensions. The last picture is from a early rectangle model that was rejected. The circular base of the dome oven was made with angled firebricks, trapezium shaped with dimensions B=6cm, b=4cm, height=11cm length=22cm

        Re: Oven on the Terrace

Thank you for the tip. I will study the pdf with joy!
I have some fears about the proximity to the oil storage though.

Could you tell me which of the following materials are suitable for casting the front arch of the oven because I will not make it out of firebricks
What extra materials will I need?

        The steel fibre-pins

        the castables

        the cement and agregates

        Thanks.
