Really starting to get a shape now...you'd be pleased...like the bluestone self.

Insulation layer....it seems from the photos you have enough room to the edge of the slab to fit a goodly amount of insulation. Yes you could use the perlite/portland mix about 4in thick (100mm) or you could go hi tec and use ceramic insulation about 2 in (50mm) and another 2 in of pealite. Cap the lot of with a sand portland lime render and seal to waterproof.

Chimney...make sure that you include a smoke chamber above the oven entrance before the chimney. It allows the smoke to gather before exiting up the chimney. Without it the smoke will not all be able to exit into the chimney fast enough and will exit strait into you face.

Didnt think of the smoke chamber, Ill work on that. Thanks for the insulation ideas too apprecaite it.

You're right there .....no insulating or chimney needed to get a pizza out....would however wait for a week so the cement "cures"
My first pizza happened because I burnt out the ply form used in the build a bit nerve racking waiting to see if everything would hold up to the flames so thay first pizza was the best...!!!

Its been so wet this year that I will prob. wait a bit longer. I had my chimney guy look at it, he recommended a dampner just in case(I have one from an old wood stove). He said to just go up to the top of the structure with the top of the clay flue, and cap it.
I am thinking I want to keep the insulation thinner(may go high tech) so that i can do a fieldstone cladding on it. Keeping it in line with everything else.
Or I may attach some metal studs and box it in and fill with insulation, im 50/50 now on what to do.

I need 2' of chimney but its usable now, I had my computer die at home so as soon as the new power supply is put in ill be able to post some pics. We have had such crazy weather this year that I know I will not be cladding it until next year.
