Today I put some fire in my wannabe portable oven and just for fun 
I am monitoring the air temperature with a coffee/milk thermometer (for the time being!).. The scale on the poor guy only gets to 220F, but when I inserted it in the dome opening that was previously holding the chimney pipe it kept going up smoothly and three times around to what I estimate was 660F.. apart from having the plastic cover boiling and popping out, it returned to 80F shortly after being removed and it shows 38F on ice water..
Did anyone try this? LOL!
