Does anyone have a solution on how to get rid of the black soot on the brick outside the oven opening ? I tried soapy water, it helped but is still pretty black. Or is that just normal and permenant ?

Although not eco-friendly, I use TSP, brush, sponge, and follow the directions on the box.
DON'T buy the stuff labeled TSP substitute, it is about worthless as a cleaner. Both Lowes & HD sell both down here.
