Re: Italian oven out back Australia
Gudday wood duck
I spent my teenage yrs in the nth west NSW. And like you said if you hunted it you ate it , bronze wing were always fattest after the wheat harvest.
Have you got yourself a set of the plans yet? Go to the store on the forum and put a free set of plans in you basket .....they will e-mail them to you . They also have free e books on cooking as well.
You done a bit of reading through the "treasures" they are some awe inspiring builds there. But a good working oven can be built by a mere mortal.
You hear his more than once insulate insulate insulate

Howdy wood duck.
I think it's not as easy to enable our kids to experience some of these great things we did but hey wood ovens surely have become a part of it for mine......and sounds sounds like it fits in with yours too.
Anyway welcome

Re: Italian oven out back Australia
Hi Wild Duck and welcome aboard,
thanks for the clues about the plans there is not much difference to what I have built over the years accept for the flue and insulation and of course the way you fellas pretty them up.
Read up on many of the ovens built and pictures taken, until you arrive at your ideal one then enjoy.
Cheers.

Re: Italian oven out back Australia
Some of those operations are pretty basic. I had a bit to do with the industry in the border ranges (Qld/NSW) and a couple of narrow scrapes because of the gear.
It would be good to have access to the offcuts we used to burn. Timber is much more valuable today and Workplace Health and Safety has changed the operations that get any scrutiny. Tough way to make a living though.
How is your oven building going?Cheers ......... Steve
