Shim angle?

Hello everyone, I'm just wondering does anyone know how to work out the angle for the shims when laying the dome arch freehand or should I just chance it? (Typical Irish way of doing things)
Any info would be much appreciated.

Can't believe I am responding to a help request! I am just starting my first chain tomorrow and am feeling challenged already by the high heart mortar! But I do know the answer to your question. Did you download the FB Pompeii Oven Instructions (v.2)? On page 38 check out photo 7.4. It will show you how to do a trial layout. If you don't have the instructions you must get them. They don't tell everything but they are a great help!
