First of all thanks for all the posters on here, I have read hours of posts and am getting ready for my oven to be built (by someone else). I live in Thailand so sourcing of some items are a challenge. I realize I will be asking duplicate questions but it is for peace of mind, my builder only speaks Thai so there is a lot of interpretation going on between him and my wife.
First of all I have found a good souce for ceramic installation.
1. The ceramic board is only 2 cm thick (.78"), is it ok to stack 3 pieces to get my desired thickness? I am not planning on using vermiculite on the floor.
2. Ceramic blanket can be obtained in either 1 cm (.4") or 2 cm (.8"). I plan on 3" so is one thickness better than the other for layering? Vermiculite will be added on the dome.
3. My biggest area of confusion. Once I lay the ceramic insulation, should there be a gap between the insulation and soldier blocks? also a gap between the soldiers and fb's since they are on top of the insulation???
I have also seen some desgns with the bricks on top of the floor insulation? I assume the fire brick floor would also have a gap to the soldier blocks?
I hope I am explaining this correctly....I need to get this across to the builder so if I am confused then there is no hope.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mike
(I promise to post my build once I get started.)
