  • Oven diameters vs hearth

    Hi Guys.

Im Building the 42" inch igloo version of the pompeii.

Just have a quick question about the hearth im about to pour within one week.
According to the Pompeii oven plans the oven exterior for a 42" inch oven should be 51" - but do i have to add the insulation of 6" on top ? and the insulation does that also covers stucco etc, which would then make the total 57 inch = the finished product in my case ?

Im a bit affraid that I might have made the hearth to small. its a corner installation that's approx 61" by 61" ? (I dont have the possibility to make it any bigger)

My final question, do i need to downsize to a 36" or what do you think ?

You don't have to drop the diameter to 36" you can go 40" or 39" or what ever works for the size of hearth pad you have. I took my 42" igloo right to the edge of the pad. That said,

42" ID, 9" (4.5" x2) brick, 6" (3"x2) Use CF blanket is you are need space vs Vcrete, 1" stucco =58". The hard part will be the vent landing.

      Allright, thank you.

I will also use CF blanket. But think I will size down in order to have propper landing+vent area.
