  • flue/ Door

    Hi guys !
Been following the form for a while now... Starting my own creation and Ive hit a stumbling block... Can someone tell me in short, Where does your door sit (wooden or other) In front of the flue or between the door and the dome.
Ive been looking at thousands of pics and plans and there seems to be a bit of a grey area for me.
    Thanks in advance !

    Re: flue/ Door

My door covers the opening to the oven, leaving the flue open. You can see the details in the albums in my signature below. HTH

If you are thinking about building a brick oven, my advice is Here.

I try to learn from my mistakes, and from yours when you give me a heads up.

      Re: flue/ Door

The purpose of the door is to seal the oven. A door that allows oven heat to fly out and up the flue is not of much use.

Those builders with two doors do so for aesthetics and to maintain a warming area in the entryway.

        Re: flue/ Door

Many users have a draft door/blast door for firing, which leaves the oven venting into the flue (but regulates/aims the fresh air into the bottom of the oven).

Oops. Should have said 'is not of much use in retaining heat for a second day's cooking'.
