  • a little advice please...

Hi I'm new to wfo cooking but it looks amazing I'm in the process of building the oven the hearth is 700mm has anyone got any ideas as to what hight the internal dome and arch should be, I no about the 63% rule and the arch will be governed by dome height, but what about arch opening. This is what I had in mind 550 mm dome height, arch at 300 mm height, and opening 400 mm could anyone advise me a little it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Your numbers look kind of funny.

Is the 700mm a diameter or a radius?

If your 700 is a diameter, your proportions are out of whack.

Assuming the 700 mm is an inside radius not a diameter, and the other dimensions are internal dimensions.

I took the liberty of sketching a dome for you per your dimensions (see attached). The image attached assumes a nominal brick thickness of 4.5 inches.

Your opening seems somewhat small, given the large size of your oven. You want your opening to be:
      (1) big enough to allow access to all parts of your oven hearth using oven tools (peels, brushes, etc.).
      (2) big enough to allow ease of management of your fire
      (3) not too big so as to allow too much heat to escape.

I would widen your opening a bit. Your opening is 15.75 wide.
I think my opening is something like 18" wide for a 42" oven.
