I recently started my project and just completed pouring my insulation layer which consist of 7:1 Perlite: Portland. I noticed the layer is pretty brittle and has a powder film on top can continues to generate broomed and easily scoured. There is quite of bit of moisture being retained in the slab and is it currently cool the touch vs the concrete layer around the perimeter
It was poured during a week when the average temp were ~50 deg. F. As of yesterday I can stand on it no problem but am concern it may not be ready to lay the oven floor or worst case the firebrick may not adhere properly due to the powdery film
Any ideas? I appreciate all your help in advance
