Greetings! I am looking to build a cement/ceramic/ clay based smoker due to the insular properties. I have questions about whether or not this has to be fired in a kiln or will just having a good burn in it do the trick?
I plan on using Vermiculite cement due to weight and perhaps finishing it with an enamel of some kind. I built a smoker last year out of steel and it performed wonderfully, but the insular properties of clay/mortar has me really excited. I will be building the top mold out of Styrofoam .
Any advice or critiques of this please feel free and thank you for your time and responses!
