  • Concrete questions

So I've placed my block just looking for a little clarification. the manual says "Block the cores that you have not filled with your empty concrete bag to stop your hearth concrete from spilling into the holes." Later it mentions leaving space on the edge of the hardibacker so the concrete fills all the cores when pouring the hearth.

    Do all cores get filled?
    Rebar in everyother core/block?
how much concrete will I need to fill everyother core?

    Any clarification would be appreciated.

    Re: Concrete questions

If you fill the corners and every other core that is sufficient. Reo bar in the cores you fill and it is a good idea to bend the tops over so they tie the base to the slab. Either that or tie your horizontal bars to the tops of the vertical ones. I am not sure how much I used to fill the cores but you should be able to calculate the volume of the void that you want to fill.

I just kept mixing until it was done!

A browse through some build thread pics will show the way.
    Cheers ......... Steve
