    Hi All
    I am new to this and am in the planning, design, and sourcing of materials phase of my oven.
    i have found silcal board for the floor insulation, the board is 30mm thick, could anyone tell me would this be
    enough, going to use 2" firebrick for the cooking surface?.

    I would recommend at least 2" of CaSi board or at least supplement the 30mm of CaSi with a 3 or 4" of Vermeculite or Perlite/Concrete mix at a 5 to 1 ratio under the CaSi or go with 5-6" a V or Pcrete mix in lieu of CaSi. I suggest you buy the eplans for FB. They are only $2 or $3 and will answer many of you basic questions and give you a good baseline for designing your oven and well as looking on the forum for the latest building techniques and materials.
