  • Curing fires

I've looked at a lot of YouTube videos and have a question about the curing fires. I see some people do curing fires before they install the insulation blanket and others after the oven is completely sealed and finished. What are the pros and cons to each method?

    thanks

The current favored process with the forum members is curing fires with the insulation on but not the finish coat, ie stucco, tile, etc. The idea is that the insulation will help minimize the temperature differential between the outside of the dome and the inside of the dome as well as allow any moisture in the build to vent out easier when it converts to steam (factor of over 1000 in volume when water converts to steam). There is some good YouTube info but also some really bad info too. A common mistake with builders during the curing phase, too hot, too fast, too much.
