  • recycle a metal wood heater

I have access to a spare metal wood heater. It is too big for me to use but I was thinking of using it as a outdoor pizza oven. Usually they are designed to radiate heat but instead, I thought I could line it to retain the heat. Any thoughts or suggestions ?

    Hi Dom,

Welcome to the group. I have to admit I can't picture this. Got a photo?

Something that comes to mind is that metal tends to get really hot, really fast, then cool off really fast. I'm not sure how that would work as a retained heat oven. Hmmmmm.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Can't wait to see the photo.

      wood stove as oven

I wonder if Dom could line the inside of the stove with a durablanket, cover that with refractory bricks and morter and then pile concrete over the stove for mass? That may provide the heat retention he needs and the refraction.
