I'm sure its been asked and answered here before but I couldn't find it. Is it possible to build a pizza oven with a separate firebox below. This way the fire is below the actual cook chamber?

Why are you thinking of doing this? There have been a few attempts to add external smoking chambers and a few with fire places below but really not aware of a fire chamber below for a pizza oven. Seems like SableSprings had a whitepaper on white ovens a few years back but this was for baking.Russell

You didn't answer UtahBeehiver 's question of what are you trying to accomplish with a separate firebox? At least for the way I cook my pizza, having a fire in the main chamber allows me to have the hearth in the mid 600F range but the top of the dome much hotter and with a side fire reflective heat coming from the top of the dome. We tend to load up our pies and I can avoid burning the bottom of the crust while having a chance to partially cook all the veggies on top.My build thread
