I am going to assume you mean barrel shape and not a steel barrel. There are two nicely done barrel ovens on the site. Search the threads by Karangi Dude (Australia) and Tscar (Austin). I also suggest you download the eplans from Forno Bravo retail site (cheap) and study them well. Although the plan focuses on Pompeii style ovens it is a good reference for design and construction.

It will not be effective due to the high heat transfer of the steel, no ability to store heat. There have been a few attempts of using steel propane tanks, etc. You can search the forum.Last edited by UtahBeehiver; 05-24-2020, 05:22 PM.

There are lots of 55 gallon drum ovens on Pinterest, Facebook WFO groups, and other social media. They were sort of the "darling" before the exercize ball pandemonium
