6th course half bricks

Good morning all,
i was looking for inspiration on how to build the dome , use the IT and correctly align all the bricks when I found out this picture below.
It’s the first time I see an entire course (6th) made only by half bricks .
Could be a useful technique to make the final part of the dome easier ?

Using small width bricks is common technique as the courses move up and diameter becomes smaller.

I was wondering why they start again with "larger" bricks for the 7th to 10th course.... but as you said, just to make thing easier
