ID:	432072 Is it necessary to put an expansion joint between the dome insulating layers (and before the final cement rendering) and the poured concrete countertop? I didn't plan that before pouring, and I wonder if I should cut or drill an expansion gap before final rendering?

No , I don’t think that is necessary. The blanket provides a good expansion joint. I do think it is a good idea to slope the countertop down towards the outside to discourage water running under the dome. Also plenty of elastic acrylic over the outer render to countertop joint.

Awesome! I was thinking that was the case with the blanket. I left a joint at the point where the concrete render of the dome meets the countertop, and I will caulk with grouted caulk. Thanks kindly!
