  • Which bricks to choose

I have been offered 200 x 42% Alumina content grade bricks to build a barrel oven as designed by Dado Hand (Australia) My question is should I use these brick or purchase the 26% Alumina.

I jhave also be offered an arch made up of 14 shaped bricks, this would give me a six inch rise over 32 inches across the bottom, would this be better than using square bricks.

    Help!!!

There's no reason not to use the medium duty fire bricks, if they are priced right. They are a little harder to cut, but if it's what's available, there's no reason not to use them.

Taper bricks for the arch are nice, but again, it's optional stuff. Don't pay a fortune for them.

The 42% Alumina bricks are cheaper than the 26% Alumina bricks, being new to this I assume the 42% are classed as the medium duty fire bricks.

Is there a benefit to using either brick.
