Ok so I’ve got the 4 dome pieces set with proper gaps (about 1/4” or so). I’ve decided to use refractory mortar from my stone supplier which is just a simple water and mortar mix-not a three part mix like firebrick co. , because I hear the supplied seraset cracks badly. How gingerly or aggressively should I pack mortar into the outer seems? Yes, I know to only apply mortar to the outside. It seems the gaps are tapered to prevent excess mortar penetrating too deep. I just don’t want to negate any thermal movement. Also, do I apply mortar around the outer perimeter where the vertical dome intersects with the horizontal insulation board? The FB instructions were a little vague on this last part. Thanks!

Don't try to excessively pack the dome piece joints. As you noted, the design is to allow for the thermal expansion and frankly minor cracks WILL happen. You don't need to mortar the oven base to the insulation board, the oven's weight keeps the seal to the board more than adequate. The Premio design is great, you'll enjoy it immensely!
