I live in San Diego, CA and the local Brick store is selling Fire brick for $1.35. Is that a good price? I'm Planning on a 42" Pompeii Oven. I start digging today!

Re: Pricing firebrick
I lucked out on my firebrick. My local suppler, within a couple miles, has them for $1.50/each. I found a place about 15 miles away that looks like you took a trip back in time. They were selling them (full low duty solids) for $.95 each. It was worth the extra travel to get them there. I'm in Western Pennsylvania.

Re: Pricing firebrick
I would be most of the firebrick is made on the east coast and the differeneces in cost is the shipping. I found them here in NY state fo $1.25.

Where did you get your brick at? I have been doing some shopping around also and have not been able to get them for less than $2.

Re: Pricing firebrick
Marvel Masonry Supply has the best price, $1.37 each.

But Arizona Brick Source, while they have the highest price of $1.50, has hands-down the best customer service. They don't usually carry Heatstop 50 (nobody does around here) but they called around and found a supplier and are special ordering it for me. It's coming from one of their main suppliers, so they're not even charging me extra for shipping. Great service and one-stop shopping--that's worth the extra $26 it works out to for me.
