  • granite oven?

I was wondering if a oven could be built with granite cobblestones. They are very old and very dense. I want to put them to good use, but was worried about them exploding if heated. I am a total newbie.
    Thanks

    Re: granite oven?

    Hi...
I've tried MARBLE as the hearth and it did not crack or explode (300C?)
i was satisfied, i thought also about granite but i didn't
try it i have the feelings that it will work
the thermal conductivity of the MARBLE is around 2.5 W/mK
and for the granite is 1.7 to 4 so they hold a good amount of
    heat.
    good luck
