  • Brand New- trying to find step-by-step instructions (Brandon, FL area)

Hi! My husband and I are wanting to build a wood burning fireplace on our patio near the pool area. We contacted a couple of contractors, and they would use the IsoKern with a 28" opening for $5700.. That sounded a bit outrageous to us, and it doesn't seem like it should be TOO hard to build ourselves. We have scoured the net and can not seem to find any step-by-step instructions on how to build it. Does anyone know a site or book for us? We just want maybe 4' long by 3' deep... Can we build the frame out with cinder blocks and line it with firebricks? Home Depot and Lowes both told me that their patio paver bricks are firebricks, but from reading this forum- they are not. Would the paver bricks hold up in the heat for just an occasional fire? We are not really looking for the heat- just the ambiance. And we live in Florida, so it will not be used THAT much... Any thoughts? Or any ideas where we can purchase these materials??? Thanks!!!
Working...
