New guy here , I'm wanting to build an oven this spring , was just wondering if anyone here could tell me if there are any naturally occurring heat resistant stone that can be used in place of firebrick.
Was mainly interested in limestone as I have access to a quarry here where I can get beautiful big slabs of limestone in any thickness desired , at a very fair price.
I was thinking that as lime is used in most concrete mixes , it could maybe be used in it's raw form , but I haven't found any information on it yet.
Could it be used , or would it break down under the heat of the oven?
I will use firebrick if I have to , but it is very expensive where I live , also the limestone is very nice looking.
Thanks for any input.
