  • Forno Bravo Video Homepage

We built a homepage for our growing video collection. This way you can see which videos are available and click to watch. I have divided it into three sections -- wood-fired cooking, oven management and bread techniques. Plus, there will always be a "featured video" with a play button at the top of the page.

Forno Bravo Video | Wood-Fired Cooking Videos

Let me know what you think. Otherwise, I'm off making more videos to make this section more valuable.

    James,

I clicked on the featured video and two videos links at random and wasn't able to view any of them. They opened a new browser page, showed the QuickTime logo then played the audio and a garbled picture. MOV files can be finicky. If your users don't have the right Codec or Quicktime versions, they are out of luck (apparently I'm one of those users).

I think a better way to set your video page up is to provide YouTube links or links to both the MOV file and the YouTube link.

Even fancier, embed YouYube videos on a FornoBravo page. I'm envisioning a separate page for each video with a text description of what the video is about.

      Re: Forno Bravo Video Homepage

      Ken,
The more I think about this, the more I am leaning toward simply publishing all of our video on YouTube and embedding it in FB.com.

Here is a page I made that allows you to watch the video either through FB.com, or from YouTube, and I'm not sure I see the advantage of supporting both.

      http://www.fornobravo.com/video/ciabatta_primavera.html

Does anyone have input on this?

If I follow this strategy, each link from the FB Video Homepage would go to an html page that would let you see the YouTube video and click play.

Video hosting is new to me, so any ideas would be appreciated.

        James,

Like Ken, I could hear you on the "watch from FB" link but screen was blank. Same with every video you have posted on this forum.

I wasn't even allowed to click the "watch on Youtube" link.

        Could be me.

Seems like there are graphics issues?

Couldn't launch, darn this would have been good to watch.

Does the YouTube version work for everyone? Sound and video?

One last thing. I have figured out the black bands above and below the video. I had my camera set to widescreen -- I've fixed that and future videos will fill up the screen.

              So much to learn.

Can you make any YouTube video work on your computer?

                    Re: Forno Bravo Video Homepage

Yeah, the link to the page with the embedded YouTube video is great. I would ditch the raw MOV link/embed altogether. It takes up too much space on the page. This way you can put some comments about the video (Description, Date, tools used, type of oven... anything that might be of interest and not mentioned on the video).

This will be an excellent addition to your site!

                      Re: Forno Bravo Video Homepage

Yes. I can go to youtube and watch them.

At the forno bravo sight, I see a piture under "Watch from FB" with a play arrow in the middle of it.

Below, under the "Watch from youtube" heading, there is a blank box with a red x in the upper left corner, but it does nothing when I click it.

I'm a Mac guy. Do any of our Windows users have a recommendation for Dusty -- and anyone who cannot play the YouTube video within the FB.com page.

                        Help!

Try right clicking on the red X, then click on "Show picture".

                            Re: Forno Bravo Video Homepage

I run windows xp, and I'm not having any trouble with the videos. The first one, I guess it's the embedded one, works right in the page, and the others open as a separate window. They take a few seconds to load, but they work ok. This is on the first link James posted.

On the second link, the "watch on FB" option loads quickly. The "watch on you tube" one, well, it's got the empty box.

I'm running quicktime 7.4.5, I don't know if that matters.
