  • wood fired spit roaster

I've been asked assist in puting together a kit oven by a guy who also wants a wood fired spit roaster. Anyone had some experience ? I was thinking along the lines of a fire brick pit (a few holes in the side to allow air in) over vermicrete, with a s'steel lid and inside an electric powered spit. Help !
Kindled with zeal and fired with passion.

You could take a Forno Bravo Fireplace Kit and bore a hole in each side and mount the motor on one side add a grate to hold a tray if you need one . Bingo an instant Wood Fired roaster and a cozy Fireplace when your not interested in Roasting.

here is one of the niicest simplest one to build

Fireplace BBQ and Outdoor Pig Rotisseries: SpitJack Fireplace Rotisseries and Hearth Cooking Grills

with a few mods it can do anything.

you can build this unit for about 150 dollars including motor. just let your imagihtion fun wild.

this is one built for about 50 dollars http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f39/...erie-4159.html

CK, good to hear from you!

I have a couple of windsheild wiper motors that may just do the trick. I love the ideas one can find here.

Make sure you add some heat shielding, I made one from a wiper motor, and the casing ended up glowing red!!!
