If you are into garlic as much as I assume you are I'm sure you know of Gilroy, CA (garlic capitol of the World) right? Anyway each year I go the the festival and they have a roaster similar to this one only the cage is a much tighter cloth. Which makes sense because as it rolls around and gets softer and softer it may catch on the holes. They use whole peeled big..umm darn it I cant thing of what the sections of the bulb are called.. you know what I'm talking about though. The (insert name) are from Christopher Ranch and they have THE BEST garlic the ( ) are the size of a quarter an average, very nice to work with.

In July and August the entire area from Gilroy to Morgan Hill smells like a giant pot of sauce (red sauce) because they can tomatoes also this time of the year there..I love it.. I tell people its probably what the Italian section of Heaven smells like

Love the gadget--- you could use it for nuts also mmm roasted chestnuts. Man it would be awesome to put nuts in WITH the peppers and both would catch the others taste...now Im hungry

I've never been to Gilroy for the Festival but I will go one of these years. It's on my list of things to do. VA has its own Garlic Festival in October. We have gone each year since '94. Well sorry, we did miss '96 - the year we got married.

If you check out my profile I have my web site listed. I hope it's OK to list it here: Brauma's Smoked Garlic Powder Yes, you could say that Im into garlic. I'm trying my best to make a go at a side business from a cottage industry/long time hobby.

Sorry to hijack your thread JMCFAN. Ive seen a roaster very similar to that one for roasting coffee.

                  Is that galvanized wire?

I've welded galvanized stuff before and the fumes are horrid.

I just thought about it... and was worried about safety issues.

Might want to check into it.

Seems like coffee beans are usually roasted enclosed but I'm not sure.

being in NM we go through a LOT of chilie... 2 sacks a year which I have roasted... but I have a garden and have been growing some the past few years... the more I grow the more flippin them on the BBQ gets to be a pain..

this thing works pretty good.... put the back burner and 2 of the regular one on and let it go...

I got some HOT stuff this year...
