Couldn't resist sharing this with you:

I just built 3 for my outdoor kitchen area they are very cool. My brother in law found the link below and bought me the parts for christmas.

Design for Life - Recycled Wine Bottle Torch | Effective and Highly Creative Design Using Minimal Resources

I did find out that not all wine bottles are created equal. I had one or two that had too small of an opening to accept the wick assembly. Pick another bottle and chances are it will work fine. I'm using 375ml bottles - less oil and I like the scale better.

We have about six wine bottle torch holders made of iron and have used them for about four years to light the path to our oven. You can also put citronella oil in them and burn them to discourage mosquitoes (though that is rarely a problem for us).

Here is how they look with 375ml bottles.

Not sure I'm liking the scale now - but easy to change out bottles later. And I am partial to the blue bottles.

Brilliant idea! I thought they were called Molotov Cocktails. I have those cheap garden flares on a bamboo pole, but they always end up with water getting in and rusting out the tank. These are much nicer.

                  Hey now Brokencookie,

When you get the torches done, it will provide more light for you to work late into the night on your oven!

And by the by, thanks for the idea for the portable pizza oven. I have made good use of mine,,, drift boat float trip, two days down the river , the guys were impressed with a great pizza (or 10). At the hunting camp and another fishing trip, the same report. Rave reviews for gourmet pizza in a remote location!

                    Ah Christo,
but how many wine bottles did you have to empty before you found not only the ones that fitted the wick assembly, but also the colour?
You see, there is where my trouble starts, I don't drink and can't get the bottles, heh, heh, heh!!!

Re: Wine Bottle Tiki Torches for my Kitchen

Neill and Jay - that's the problem - there are so so many bottles that I think would look good. I want to test them all!!!

For now, we are done. I think I will make more to stick in the ground like Jay has. Can you post some pictures of those?

Since I had filled them with oil, I figured I had better install them or risk breaking them in my overcrowded garage.

                        Thanks,

                        Christo

It looks good, but maybe a little to close to wood for my taste.
