  • Firing an oven that hasn't been used in 7 years?

Hi - I run a mobile wood-fired pizza company and just was contacted by someone who wants me to come to their house and do a party using their oven. I have done this several times, but this oven has not been fired up in 7 years.

Would I need to visit this client previous to party and cure this oven? Would I have to do a detailed cure or would one fire up be enough? Party is in August so I will set up a time to go check it out beforehand.

Yes, definitely test it out. Check that it is insulated under the floor too. Every oven fires differently. If it's uncovered, hope that you don't get rain on it between your test firing and the function. Good luck.
