Dirty wood!

Hi,
I got a cord of birch for my Casa 2G oven, seems like nice dry wood but there is a far bit of dirt on it. not every piece, maybe 25% or so. I can clean most of it off with a BBQ type brush, but am a little worried about grit on the bottom of the oven. I do clean it well with a copper brush before I put pizza in.
Anyone had this issue before.
Any help appreciated.

I would worry less about the grit than I would loose wires from the brushes ending up in my food . Switch to natural fiber brushes. You will have to replace the head from time to time but they are cheap.

Also you said '25% or so". You can sort that out and wash it with a water hose. It won't take on that much moisture during the cleaning. It will be as seasoned as the rest wtihin a just few days. Just use it last.
