  • Curing oven in the winter.

Hi, I finished my dome and entrance on my 36" Pompeii oven. I used heat stop for mortar. Is there any additional curing concerns to take into account if I try and do my c?re while the temperature outside can be -20C? thanks

It is best to insulate the dome before beginning the drying fires imo. That lessons the thermal shock between the inside and outside of the dome during the drying process.

Thanks, I have 3” of insulating blanket that I will temporarily put on for the cure, although it won’t impact the initial temperature of the oven. Are there any concerns with doing the curing fires in the winter? Thanks
